Kansas City BBQ Chicken Pizza

Kansas City BBQ Chicken Pizza

Course: Main

The Kansas City BBQ Chicken Pizza is a delicious main course featuring thinly sliced cooked chicken breast tossed in Kansas City-style barbecue sauce, layered on a pizza dough along with shredded low-moisture mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheeses. The pizza is baked until the crust is golden and the cheese melts, then topped with sliced green onions before serving. It offers a flavorful combination of tangy barbecue sauce, tender chicken, and melted cheese on a crispy crust.

  • Extra-virgin olive oil for greasing

  • 1 cooked chicken breast, thinly sliced

  • ⅔ cup store-bought Kansas

  • City-style barbecue sauce

  • 1 ball (about 14 oz) pizza dough, homemade (page

  • 10) or store-bought, at room temperature

  • ¾ cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • ¼ cup sliced green onions

  • Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 500°F. Lightly coat a heavy-duty rimmed baking sheet with olive oil.
  • Stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch round and place on the prepared baking sheet. In a medium bowl, toss the chicken with ⅓ cup of the barbecue sauce. Spread the remaining ⅓ cup barbecue sauce on the dough, leaving a ½-inch border of dough uncovered. Arrange the chicken on top in an even layer, then top with the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
  • Bake until the crust is golden and the cheese is just beginning to brown in spots, 10-15 minutes. Remove the pizza from the oven. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the green onions evenly over the top. Cut into wedges and serve.
