Easy Cheesy Holiday Stars
Course: AppetizersIngredients
1 sheet (about 14 oz) frozen puff pastry
½ cup (about 2 oz) grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the puff pastry sheets from the package, cover with a kitchen towel, and let stand at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
- Spread ¼ cup of the Parmesan cheese on a work surface, spreading it evenly to a shape similar in size to the sheet of puff pastry. Place the puff pastry over the Parmesan. Using a rolling pin, roll over the puff pastry to press the dough onto the Parmesan. Brush the puff pastry with the egg wash and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan. Using the rolling pin, roll over the top of the dough to adhere the cheese to the dough. Using a 1½-inch star-shape cookie cutter, cut out as many stars as possible. Discard any unused pastry or save it for another use. Place the stars at least 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake until golden and crisp, 7-8 minutes. Let cool briefly, then serve.
