IN-PERSON, ON-STAGE!

Essex Youth Theater provides a fun and exciting theater experience. This unique after-school program lets every child shine.

You’ve seen acting programs that crowd a large group of kids on stage. Some children may get speaking roles; some may not. Some are featured, others are left in the background.

Essex Youth Theater is different.

Essex Youth Theater is a specialized program that uses custom-written scripts to give every child an equal role in the play, including a solo song! Each class also incorporates acting exercises, theater games, and improvisations that help students express their creativity and develop dramatic skills.

Class size is small, with each child receiving lots of individual attention in a fun, friendly environment that nurtures self-esteem, fosters imagination, and builds confidence. Self-confidence is our primary emphasis so every child can blossom. Finally, students experience that indescribable feeling of accomplishment through the joy of performing.

The teachers are professional directors specially trained in children’s theater. Skilled artists, they bring many years of experience, as well as a love and understanding of young actors, to every class.

Classes and performances are held at The Studio Playhouse, 14 Alvin Place in Montclair (right by The Acme on Valley Road). The big, beautiful Playhouse stage gives the students a performance to remember!

JOIN US THIS FALL FOR A ONE-OF-A-KIND THEATER EXPERIENCE! Musicals, Non-Musicals, plus Creative Dramatics! Something for everyone! Our unique program gives every child a starring role! For ages 6-13. The Fall semester runs September-December. Spring and Summer classes too!
