Unveiling of USS Westchester Memorial

All are welcome to join the USS Westchester County Association on the Trail of Honor at Lasdon Park who will be honoring those who lost their lives and dedicating their new monument.

The USS Westchester transported troops and supplies between Okinawa, Japan, and Vietnam. 50 years ago on October 31, explosives were hidden underneath it, resulting in the tragic loss of 25 U.S. servicemen. This incident marked the largest loss of life in a single incident in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
