Tocks Island: Dammed If You Do @ Sussex-Wantage

February 7 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The homegrown movement that defeated the Delaware river dam

In the early 1960’s more than 7,000 families in New Jersey and Pennsylvania were forced to sell their homes or businesses to make way for a dam and reservoir that were never built.

Award winning journalist David Pearce* tells the stories of the families displaced by the ill fated Tocks Island Dam Project, the squatters who illegally occupied the abandoned homes, and the courageous residents who mobilized a campaign opposing a giant bureaucracy.

Don’t miss this fascinating presentation. No registration required.

*David Pearce has written extensively on the legacy of the Tocks Island Dam. His journalistic work has been honored by several press associations, and he has been designated a fellow of the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism and received the G. Richard Dew Award for Journalistic Service.
