The Delicate Balance of Aquatic Ecology
July 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us for an exploration of one of the most expansive aquatic ecosystems in the Preserve in this summertime follow-up to our spring program!
The Pocantico River is a sensitive habitat that supports an abundance of wildlife but due to its large footprint, this ecosystem is subject to a broad range of threats.
Get your hands dirty with naturalist, Josh DiPaola, and educator, Kim Fendrich, in this interactive program and see firsthand how our stewardship team evaluates this habitat by taking water samples, searching for aquatic insects, and considering the health of nearby trees as we explain how they are all connected.
Meet in the Visitor’s Center courtyard followed by a 2-mile round trip hike to the Pocantico River and back.
Please wear sun protection and bring water to drink.
In the event of rain, the program may be canceled or postponed; you will be notified via email by 5 pm the day before.
Max: 20 people
Appropriate for all ages
Parking: $6 per vehicle
