The Intrepid Museum offers Sensory Friendly Evenings for teens (14+) and adults with autism or sensory sensitivities. Explore the Intrepid Museum after hours during a fun sensory-friendly evening with friends and family. All registrants receive a social narrative before the program.
The Submarine Growler
Submarines are one of the most unique experiences in the Navy! Explore the submarine Growler and the A View from the Deep exhibition to learn more about the adventures and challenges of life underwater.
Accessibility Note:
A View from the Deep: The Submarine Growler & the Cold War is fully accessible. The submarine Growler is a narrow, one-way experience that requires the use of stairs and stepping through raised hatches. Any guest who wants to go through Growler is required to go through a practice hatch without assistance first.

Do you have programs for children with autism?
Yes! We offer Early Morning Openings for children with autism/sensory sensitivities and their families. For more information about Early Morning Openings and Sensory Friendly Evenings at the Intrepid Museum, click here.
Can teens attend this event on their own?
Teenagers 16 years old and up can attend Sensory Friendly Evenings on their own. Teenagers under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, but if you can bring a paper or digital copy of your ticket it expedites the check-in process!
