Markeisha Ensley – Free Concert
July 21 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeAward-winning singer-songwriter and pianist Markeisha Ensley blends Motown doo-wop harmonies, jazz arrangements and gospel singing on a selection of up-tempos and ballads. With a sultry voice that soars over soulful melodies, she strikes an uplifting groove and graces the stage with a powerful, undeniable presence.
A pianist, singer- songwriter, and actress, she originated and performed the role of Nina Simone in the concert drama, “Little Girl Blue”, at the National Black Theatre Festival. Markeisha has toured in Japan and Europe and regularly performs in the NYC area.
There is no charge for this event – donations welcome to help continue the Christ Church San Marcos program of free concerts.
Washington Irving, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” followed the Rev. Dr. William Creighton to this church from Zion Episcopal in Dobbs Ferry. Irving was a vestryman, warden, Sunday School teacher, and regular parishioner at Christ Church until his death in 1859. The ivy on the church walls is from cuttings taken at Irving’s home, Sunnyside, and his pew is still marked in the front of the sanctuary.
