Kwanzaa Celebration
December 17, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeIn the rich traditions and cultural significance of Kwanzaa, participants come together to honor African heritage and unity. The seven principles of Kwanzaa–unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith—will be explored through discussion and the creation of simple handmade gifts. Materials will be supplied by Westbury Arts.
“This is a time to honor lessons taught by our ancestors,” says Westbury resident Mrs.Marcia Odle McNair, who is coordinating the event. Mrs. McNair is the author of a book titled Kwanzaa Crafts–Gifts and Decorations for a Meaningful and Festive Celebration.
“Our Kwanzaa celebration promises to be an afternoon filled with engaging activities and lively performances,” she says.
This is a family friendly event and children are encouraged to attend. Parking is free on weekends in the Westbury Village lot directly across from the Westbury Arts building.
