Juneteenth Around the Square
June 19, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join us at Harriet Tubman Square for an engaging Juneteenth celebration, honoring the rich history and culture of African Americans and commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.
From artmaking to drummers to yard games, the park will come alive with various activities, performances, and the rhythm of DJ Fauzi, offering something for everyone.
Audible is providing delicious food for the Cook-Out from local restaurants via Newark Working Kitchens Delivers (NWKD). Free meals from The Yard, The Weekend Spot, and Uncle Willies Wings will be available (limited supply).
As part of this special occasion, The Newark Museum of Art will be open from 12 to 5pm, inviting visitors to explore its rich collection and exhibitions, including the newly reinstalled Seeing America: 18th and 19th Century galleries. Admission to the museum is free.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Museum.
This event is a partnership between the City of Newark, Newark City Park Foundation, The Newark Museum of Art, and Audible.
Parking is available next to the Museum for a $10 fee, with entrances located on Washington Street and Central Avenue.
