Grand Central Terminal: The Secrets and History @ Main Library

September 16, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

On February 2, 1913, Grand Central Terminal officially opened to the public. It’s one of the largest and most prestigious railroad stations in the world, with over 67 million travelers passing through each year. Grand Central is also a shopping, dining, and cultural destination all under one grand celestial roof.

What is Grand Central’s connection to the demolished Penn Station? Why is Grand Central a Terminal, not a station? Who was The Commodore? Why are there acorns everywhere, as well as incandescent light bulbs and a slight depression in the floor of Biltmore Room? Can people really dance and play tennis at Grand Central? Attend this presentation and find out!

Presented by Mike Czuchnicki, historian, author, speaker and YouTube creator. Registration begins September 2.
