Join Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Laurie Cumbo and Prospect Park Alliance President Morgan Monaco, for a free screening of Shirley, the new Netflix film about Brooklyn Trailblazer Shirley Chisholm, depicting her run for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination after becoming the first Black woman elected to Congress. The film stars Regina King, Lance Reddick and Terrence Howard.
Prospect Park is the future home to a monument to Shirley Chisholm, funded through the DCLA She Built initiative. Attendees will be able to view the plans for the monument prior to the screening. Learn more about the project.
