First Day Hike, Family Program, Free Event!

Join us for a walk on the beach towards Democrat Point alongside Fire Island Inlet as we look for seals and winter birds calling Long Island home this winter! Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. You will be hiking with a park naturalist! The hike will be on sand for approximately 1-3 miles long. Be prepared to hike in the cold for up to 2 hours! Bring drinking water! Wear proper clothing and footwear for a walk alongside the water in the winter. Meet in the Field 2 parking lot near the Golf Course walkway on the west side of the lot.
BE AWARE: There are no restrooms open at Field 2! Restrooms in Field 5 will be open or at Captree State Park so please use the restrooms before the hike.

Family programs are recommended for children 6 and up! This is a free event! There is no parking fee in effect!

Space is very limited for this hike! Please reserve a ticket for every member of your party! If you can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation so others have the opportunity to sign up.
