Join us for Black History Month by learning the surprising history of enslaved people in New York State through their freedom into today with Lavada Nahon, Interpreter of African American History for New York State Parks.
In 2027, New York State commemorates two momentous Black history anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the legal end of slavery in New York, and the 400th anniversary of the arrival and enslavement of the first twenty-two African people in New Netherland.
Ms. Nahon will bring a local perspective that dates to Frederick Philipse’s vast Hudson Valley lands and estates. Please join us for this virtual presentation.
Registered participants will receive a link to join the video call.
