Earth Day Nature Walk
April 22 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Attendees should gather at the nature preserve’s parking lot by 9:00AM. An expert guide will be present from the Ridgefield Park Environmental Commission. This is an all ages event!
The nature preserve’s grand opening is on June 3, but take this opportunity for a sneak peak! At our recent bird count, 16 species were identified – including an eagle!
You can enter the directions to the Ridgefield Park Jr/Sr High School to locate the parking lot (off E. Grand, just before the high school’s lot and front entrance) or you can now find us on Google Maps! https://goo.gl/maps/bTZ9kPeYvwNfzx8E8
HOW TO PREPARE:
Please make sure to wear appropriate footwear as some areas might be muddy. Bring your binoculars and camera because you never know what you might see!
If you wish to, you may also bring a bag to help in collecting litter. The nature preserve is maintained by volunteers and every little bit helps! What better way to celebrate Earth Day?
Please note that dogs are not allowed in the nature preserve in order to protect the natural habitat for the wildlife. We love your pets, but we must keep this land a sanctuary to the native wildlife.
Tickets are not needed at the event, but we do ask to sign up so we can be aware of the size of the group.
You can find more photos and videos of the Nature Preserve on Ridgefield Park’s Instagram and the official town Facebook.
This is an event for all ages. The terrain is not particularly strenuous as there are foot paths and most land is flat. It should be noted that there are two areas of the nature preserve with slightly uneven steps (less than 10) which could prove difficult for some.
The nature preserve signs are also in Braille for those who are visually impaired.
Hope to see you there!
