We’re celebrating Women’s History Month at this free Community Day!

Celebrate the remarkable contributions of women to Newark’s jazz history with performances that highlight our community’s diverse talents.

Experience the soulful vocal tributes from The Antoinette Montague Experience, a taste of Brazilian Pop Jazz by Zabelê, the captivating singing of Janetza Miranda, and much more. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a celebration that amplifies the voices of women who have left an enduring mark on our city’s cultural identity.

12:30pm | Janetza Miranda – Jazz tributes, originate song (Time: 30 min)

Dive into a 30-minute journey with Newark’s own Janétza Miranda, blending Jazz, Soul, R&B, Bolero, Bomba y Plena, Hip Hop into a remixed sonic delight of vocalizations and rhythmic proclamations that transport you to a space that is suspended in time.

1:30pm | Zabelê performs Brazilian Pop jazz (Time: 30 min)

Experience the unique sound of Zabelê, the daughter of Brazilian music legends Baby do Brasil and Pepeu Gomes. Enjoy as she blends Brazilian rhythms with pop jazz for a captivating 30-minute performance, showcasing her rich musical heritage.

2:15pm | Newark School of the Arts: Choreography by Leslie Lucy (Time: 2 min)

Witness Leslie Lucy, a standout talent in the dance world, showcase a dynamic blend of dance styles in electrifying choreography that promises to captivate.

2:30pm | BellaStar sings jazz + original (Time: 15 min)

Join 14-year-old BellaStar, notable for appearances on America’s Got Talent and World of Dance, for a 15-minute set, featuring jazz standards and originals. Discover why she’s Newark’s rising star in music and community engagement!

3:15pm | The Antoinette Montague Experience (Time: 60 min)

End the day with Antoinette Montague, a luminary in Jazz and Blues. Montague seamlessly weaves her soulful artistry on prestigious stages worldwide, while championing music education and inspiring future talents.
