City Nature Challenge: FREE Family Program (All Ages)

April 26 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Two people outdoors by a lake; a child with binoculars stands next to an adult wearing a hat who is pointing toward something in the distance near a tree.
How much wildlife is hiding in your city?

The City Nature Challenge is a four-day global community science event which happens annually in April, where people across cities from the entire world compete to see how many species they can document in their city using the app, INaturalist. Who knows just what you’ll discover!

Please dress accordingly for the weather. Bring a jacket, closed toe hiking shoes, and a water bottle. We recommend pre-downloading the free INaturalist app to your phone prior to attending the event.

No admission fees for this program. $8 vehicle fee in effect. Each person in your party needs a ticket. Reservations are required for all programs. Space is limited. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early. We will meet at the Environmental Education and Resiliency Center in Field 1 of Hempstead Lake State Park.
