Community Day: Fiesta Latina

Join us as we kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month with a fiesta! Get ready for a celebration filled with live music, colorful dance, and a variety of activities showcasing the vibrant cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Bring your own blanket or chair, savor tasty treats from our food trucks, learn the choreography of different Latin dances, and immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere. ¡Vamos a celebrar!
Performance Timeline:
12:00-5:00 PM – Latin House beats from DJ VidaLibre
12:30 PM – Dance and musical performance by female group Chicas Mal
1:00 PM – Colombian Cumbia performance by Viva Vallenato Cumbia Band
2:00 PM – Redbull’s Freestylers demonstrate Soccer tricks
2:40 PM – Solo Bossanova performance by Brazilian Guitarist D.A. Sempre
3:20 PM – Latin Dance Lessons by the Smiling David’s Dance School
4:00 PM – Salsa and Merengue performance by Grupo Warancho band
4:15 PM – Smiling David’s Dance School dance performance
This event will be both indoor and outdoor, weather permitting. There will be food and drinks available for purchase.

Traveling to the Museum
We anticipate a large turnout for this event. We encourage you to take public transportation to the Museum. You will find more information below:
Public Transportation
You can easily get to the Museum using the Newark Light Rail, getting off at the Harriet Tubman Square stop or the Washington Street stop. You can also arrive via NJ Transit heavy rail, as we are three blocks from Broad Street Station.
Driving
The Museum has a parking lot with limited space. It is $10 to park. Downtown Newark has ample on-street parking. We also recommend going to http://Parking.com and searching using the Museum’s Address, 49 Washington Street, Newark, NJ to find available parking.
Uber/Lyft
The Museum is located at 49 Washington Street. You will enter through our main entrance which faces Washington Street.
