Jersey City’s Annual July 4th Street Fair & Fireworks
July 4, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeMayor Steven M. Fulop, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and Jersey City Night announced today that the annual July 4th celebration Jersey City has become known for is back again this year with the Fourth of July Street Fair and Fireworks along the Hudson River waterfront. With 60 food trucks and vendors, the street fair will highlight Jersey City’s small businesses, arts, and culture. Local DJs will play from multiple stages, creating a fun atmosphere for attendees, and the day-long celebration will be capped off by fireworks lighting up the sky over the Hudson River conducted by Guinness World Record holder, Fireworks by Grucci.
“We have grown our annual Fourth of July celebration to the point where it has become a yearly tradition for families and friends across the tristate area, and we are excited to provide another fun-filled Independence Day yet again this year. Jersey City has so much to offer – from our diversity to our arts and culture to our dynamic food scene and so much more,” said Mayor Fulop. “Nowhere else will you find the renowned Grucci setting off fireworks from two barges in the middle of the Hudson River with an unparalleled backdrop of the New York City skyline.”
Hosted by the City of Jersey City, the street fair will take place in partnership with Jersey City Night Market from noon to 10 p.m. along Montgomery Street at Exchange Place. Curated by the world-famous and family-owned Grucci, fireworks will take off from two barges spaced along the Hudson River for optimal viewing spanning the waterfront to allow more spectators to enjoy the Independence Day celebrations.
“This is the third consecutive year the team behind the Jersey City Night Market is partnering with the City to curate a festival experience for Jersey City. We are a small business in Jersey City and are proud to help make this event a reality for our City,” said Alysis Vasquez, Owner and Operator of Jersey City Night Market.
In recent years, Jersey City’s July 4th festivals have attracted crowds of nearly 200,000 people, with superstar talent headlining the music festival on stage, including the Village People (2016), Jersey City’s own Kool and the Gang (2017), Snoop Dogg (2018), Pitbull (2019), local native Akon (2018 & 2019), and Flo Rida (2022).
“We want to welcome everyone to Jersey City, to see what everyone else is talking about – especially when it comes to our July 4th event,” added Christine Goodman, Director of Jersey City’s Office of Cultural Affairs. “This year’s street fair will include a wide range of vendors offering delicious foods, drinks, entertainment, apparel, and more. It is going to be another year of great family fun and incredible fireworks to end the celebrations.”
Roads surrounding Montgomery Street will be closed for the duration of the event. Anyone planning to attend is strongly encouraged to arrive by foot, bike, or public transportation, as parking will be extremely limited. The Exchange Place light rail stop will be closed. Attendees are advised to use the Harborside or Marin Boulevard stops. Bike JC will offer free bike valet parking to encourage alternative transportation.
