Playwriting Workshop @ Dorothy Henry

Local playwrights, no matter your level of experience, are invited to join Mary Clifford* for an opportunity to learn and share your work.

This free Playwriting Workshop provides playwrights, from beginner to experienced, an opportunity to share their work, ideas, and submission information with each other. You are encouraged to bring copies of works-in-progress or completed ones for the group to read. You can include full-length and/or one-act plays, or even short scenes.  If printing paper copies of the plays or scenes prove to be too expensive, they can be read via cell phones or laptops. As the moderator, Mary Clifford will guide discussions that are supportive, encouraging, and specific in terms of suggestions. She can also assist new playwrights in getting started.

The workshop is for adults, but interested high school students are also welcome. Registration begins June 3.

*Mary Clifford is a retired professor, who taught theatre for over 30 years, was a participant in the Geraldine R. Dodge Project for Playwrights and Teachers, and founded and directed the Annual Young Playwrights of Bergen County. A member of Dramatists Guild, Mary is a playwright, who has had many of her plays receive staged readings and/or productions, including “Car Line,” which was produced in NYC. Mary has also directed and performed in many original works throughout her career.
