Each program will focus on a specific theme\, and our Van Vleck Education team will guide your family through this interactive learning experience. This program is entirely outdoors\, weather dependent. Registration is required and includes everything you need to participate in the program. Designed for children ages 4 -11 but all are welcome. \nFee: FREE for Members of Van Vleck; $15 per family  for  General Public \nRegistration required by 1 day prior to each class \n \nSponsored by  \n  \nUpcoming Outdoor Adventures \nApril 11th – Arbor Day Everyday \nArbor Day is a day to reflect on the importance of trees in our environment. We have an abundance of beautiful trees throughout the gardens. At April’s Outdoor Adventures\, learn more about our trees as we explore their role in our environment\, their unique leaf shapes\, and what animals use trees as their homes.  \n  \nMay 16th – Honeybees & Hummingbirds \nWhat do bees and hummingbirds have in common? They fly and they are pollinators! Join us to learn about your local pollinators\, how they make a positive impact on our environment\, and what we can do to help them on their mission.  \n  \nJune 6th – Insect Safari  \nYou can find many different insects buzzing\, wiggling\, and crawling around the gardens. Join us for an Insect Safari at this month’s Outdoor Adventures. Create a bug inspired craft\, take a hike looking for insects\, and learn about the important roles insects play in the garden.  \n

DESCRIPTION:Garden to Table \nThursdays\, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM \nJanuary 23rd – Veggie Soup \nJoin us for our first Garden to Table class of the year. We’ll be preparing a yummy veggie soup\, perfect for a chilly winter day!  \n  \nFebruary 20th – Potato Bread \nMarch 20th – Super Green Dip \n(No Class in April) \nMay 8th – Rainbow Salad \nJune 12th – Fruit Pizza \nEnjoy quality time in the garden with your child/children as we explore the Edible Garden and all that it has to offer. Help us weed and water\, plant\, and harvest. We will prepare a simple snack with ingredients found in the garden.  Appropriate for children ages 4 and up but all are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. \nFee: $15/class per child for Members / $20/class per child for Non-members \nRegistration required HERE by 1 day prior to each class \nSponsored by The Albert Payson Terhune Fund
