Queens County Farm Museum will host a special outdoor holiday reading of O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi led by acclaimed actor Kevin R. Free. Story time takes place in the farm’s 3-acre pasture. \nFirst published in 1905\, The Gift of the Magi  by O. Henry tells the story of struggling newlyweds so eager to give each other a Christmas gift that each sells the one thing the other holds most dear.  O. Henry penned The Gift of the Magi at Pete’s Tavern\, New York City’s longest continually operated bar and restaurant. Since 1905\, this story has secured its place among the American literary canon and has become synonymous with the Christmas season.  \nAbout Kevin R. Free \nKevin R. Free is a multidisciplinary artist whose work as an actor\, writer\, director\, and producer has been showcased and developed in many places\, including The Fire This Time Festival\, where he served as Producing Artistic Director for 5 years\, winning an Obie for his work in 2015. He is now the Artistic Director of Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken\, NJ\, where most recently he directed Berta\, Berta by Angelica Cherí. Favorite Directing Credits include Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill (Peterborough Players); Pass Over (Marin Theater Company); and Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (Portland Stage Company). He is a member of the Historic Apollo Theatre’s New Works Lab\, where he is developing a solo show for André De Shields.  He was just honored by Audiofile Magazine as a Golden Voice\, for his lifetime of work as an audiobook narrator.
