Since 1955 the Art League of Long Island has offered fine art classes & workshops year-round for adults, teens, and children. Classes run mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Registration is ongoing throughout the year with new sessions opening up every few weeks. Children & teens can explore Cartooning, Ceramics/Pottery, Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Pre-College Portfolio Prep for High School students, and more.
Now in its 27th year the Art League of Long Island’s Summer Art Adventure Program offers kids and teens fun and creative activities led by certified art educators. Art Adventurers engage in a variety of creative experiences, which include developing skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and more. All Young Artists will develop the confidence they need to practice and create art. Art Adventurers will study an artist of the week, as well as find inspiration through the weekly theme.
Early Childhood and Young Artist Programs (ages 6-10) feature weekly activities centered on exciting themes. Sessions start July 11 and end week of August 1 (Mon-Fri, 9am-2pm). Pre-teens and teens ages 11-14 find inspiration from the weekly themes, with a focus on developing essential higher level art skills in one or both 10-day sessions beginning July 10 & July 24 (Mon-Fri, 9am-2pm). Students will be grouped age appropriately. Flexible options allow you to choose one or all program sessions.
Summer Pre-College Portfolio Development (ages 15-19) offers two two-week sessions beginning July 10 and July 24 (Tues-Fri, 10am-3pm) where students will develop skills that lead to expressive and creative portfolio quality works. Guidance on what colleges and universities look for in a portfolio will also be discussed. Choose one or both sessions.
Summer Art Adventure Location: Young Artists, Mature Artists, and Montage Artists at a Half Hollow Hills School, to be determined by mid-April. Summer Pre-College Portfolio Program at the Art League Center in Dix Hills. Both locations offer air-conditioned comfort.
