DESCRIPTION:Reeves-Reed Arboretum is pleased to present Féminin Pluriel\, a solo exhibition by Québec-based artist Pascale Bouchard. This exhibition highlights Bouchard’s distinctive encaustic practice\, in which pigmented beeswax and heat are used to create richly textured works of art. Rooted in themes of transformation\, memory\, and the symbolic power of the feminine\, her work draws deeply from floral imagery and organic forms\, evoking both the fragility and resilience of the natural world. \nA curated selection of artist-designed objects and garments inspired by the Féminin Pluriel series will be available for purchase\, and a live demonstration of Bouchard’s encaustic technique will be scheduled this fall at the Arboretum. \nThe exhibition will be on view from June 2 through October 31 in the Wisner House. \nGallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday\, 10 am – 4 pm unless closed for a private event. Please check here for updated hours.  \nAll works in this exhibition will be for sale\, and the artist will donate 30% of all sales to the Arboretum.

DESCRIPTION:Kayak Tour on the Passaic River \n(All ages\, 15 & under must be accompanied by an adult\, children ages 8-12 years must share a tandem kayak with an adult) \nBordering Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge\, this section of the Passaic River boasts beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife. You’ll feel at one with nature as the river’s twists and turns carry you deeper into the refuge’s soul. \nLed by an ACA (American Canoe Association) certified kayak instructor from Kayak East\, this tour is rated “Easy” meaning no experience is necessary.  Great for families and paddlers of any skill level.  Photographers\, bird-watchers and anyone who wants to get outside and enjoy nature will love it! \nPlan to meet at the Passaic River in Bernards Township at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour for boat fit. Directions and additional information will be provided upon registration. Paddlers ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Urban Garden 101 Garden Snack and Harvest
DESCRIPTION:Participants will learn how to harvest and create a snack from the garden.They will be able to make sautéed collards and take home harvest.\n\n\nIn step with the growing season\, beginner gardeners are invited to gain hands-on learning experiences at the learning garden and greenhouse. In Spring unfurling\, we’ll cover fundamental principles and practices of growing plants for specific urban green spaces\, preparing soil\, designing a garden suitable for each gardener’s specific needs\, regenerative and climate-wise gardening\, starting seeds\, proper planting techniques\, and basic plant care. Gardeners in this course will contribute to collective beds in our learning garden as well as tend seedlings to take to their own urban green spaces. \nIn this class participants will harvest lettuce\, spinach\,mint\,and root vegetbales. \nRequired Texts and Resources: No texts are required. Optional supplemental readings will be given for each class. \nRegistration: Each track is limited to 16 participants per session. We ask that you kindly register prior the start of the cohort. Urban Gardening 101 is most suited for adults\, and we kindly ask participants with children to consider one of our other weekly free family-friendly programs instead.

Volunteer indoors or outdoors alongside our horticulturists to support the care and upkeep of our landscape. Tasks vary by session and may include weeding\, mulching\, watering\, and more. \nGround Force Sessions: \n\n\nThursdays \n\n\n10:00 AM – 12:00 PM \n\n\n\n\nSaturdays \n\n10:00 AM – 12:00 PM\n\n\n\nWhat to Bring & Wear: \n\n\nLong pants\, long socks\, and sturdy closed-toe shoes \n\n\nInsect repellent\, sunscreen\, and a refillable water bottle \n\n\nRain gear if light rain is expected—we work in drizzle! \n\n\nRegistration is required to receive updates in case of cancellations or schedule changes. Please register at least 24 hours before each session. \nWe will supply gloves as well as all other tools and materials. For your safety\, all tools and gloves are washed and sanitized. Please meet at the barn in our parking lot. If the session is cancelled due to inclement weather or any other reason\, we will contact you. DESCRIPTION:Reeves-Reed Arboretum is pleased to present Féminin Pluriel\, a solo exhibition by Québec-based artist Pascale Bouchard. This exhibition highlights Bouchard’s distinctive encaustic practice\, in which pigmented beeswax and heat are used to create richly textured works of art. Rooted in themes of transformation\, memory\, and the symbolic power of the feminine\, her work draws deeply from floral imagery and organic forms\, evoking both the fragility and resilience of the natural world. \nA curated selection of artist-designed objects and garments inspired by the Féminin Pluriel series will be available for purchase\, and a live demonstration of Bouchard’s encaustic technique will be scheduled this fall at the Arboretum. \nThe exhibition will be on view from June 2 through October 31 in the Wisner House. \nGallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday\, 10 am – 4 pm unless closed for a private event.
