SUMMARY:Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on St. Patrick’s Day itself\,  Sunday\, March 17\, 2024\, at 1 pm! \nWhen St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday\, the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade traditionally moves to Saturday\, March 16.  Since the Glen Cove parade always takes place on the Sunday following the NYC parade\, we have the good fortune of having our parade fall on St. Patrick’s Day itself during those years! \n\nThe 2024 Parade will return to its traditional route – ending outside the Church of St. Patrick\, at Glen Street and Pearsall Avenue. The Parade Reviewing Stand will return to its former position in the block before the end of the Parade route.\n\n\nThe after-Parade Party will return to St. Patrick’s Parish Hall at the end of the Parade route.\nIn addition to Glen Cove’s downtown municipal parking garages\, parking will be available at St. Patrick’s lot and the shuttle bus will circulate through those areas\, the formation and spectator areas.

SUMMARY:The Delicate Balance of Aquatic Ecology
DESCRIPTION:The Delicate Balance of Aquatic Ecology\n\n\nJoin us for an exploration of one of the most expansive aquatic ecosystems in the Preserve. \nThe Pocantico River is a sensitive habitat that supports an abundance of wildlife but due to its large footprint\, this ecosystem is subject to a broad range of threats. Get your hands dirty with naturalist\, Josh DiPaola and educator\, Kim Fendrich in this interactive program and see firsthand how our stewardship team evaluates this habitat by taking water samples\, searching for aquatic insects\, and considering the health of nearby trees as we explain how they are all connected. \nMeet in the Visitor’s Center courtyard followed by a 2-mile round trip hike to the Pocantico River and back. \n Please bring water to drink and dress warmly in layers. \nIn the event of rain\, the program may be canceled or postponed; you will be notified via email the day before. \nParking: $6 per vehicle. \nMax: 20 people. Appropriate for all ages. \nPhoto courtesy of Bill Golden
