SUMMARY:Bee Jubilee featuring the New York Flower Show
DESCRIPTION:A celebration of bees\, blooms\, and the many relationships alive in our garden!\n\n\nJoin The Hort at the Greenhouse & Education Center at the Bee Jubilee featuring the New York Flower Show™\, an afternoon celebrating bees and the flowering plants that sustain them. Explore the garden at your own pace\, get an up-close look at bees under a microscope\, learn how to support native bees at home\, wander through our pollinator garden\, dance like a bee\, and gather around flowers grown in our Learning Garden. Come for one activity or stay for the whole Jubilee. Activities are free and open to all ages\, and the event is rain or shine. \n \nBee Discovery & Bee Habitat Love | 11 AM–12 PM \nLearn all about both honeybees and native bees through observing bees from a microscope\, fun bee info and trivia\, and honey tastings. Learn about pollinator ports\, bee bunkers\, and even create your own bee bath to learn all about how you can be a steward to support all kinds of bee species! \nPollinator Garden Tour / Bee a Bee | 12–1 PM \nTake a guided walk through the Pollinator Garden with a gardener to meet some of the flowers and plants that feed and shelter pollinators throughout the season or\, for the kids and kids at heart\, dress up to learn about bee anatomy\, and discover how bees communicate through creative movement. \nPollinator Posies: Flower Arranging | 1–2 PM \nEnd the Jubilee among the flowers! Create your own bouquet inspired by the pollinator-loving blooms\, then spread flower seeds to keep the garden growing. \n \nAccessibility: Our kitchen/classroom space is wheelchair accessible. With prior planning\, we can add a few small mats onto the pebbled ground of the greenhouse to make a small wheel-chair accessible path. Our learning garden has grass paths\, and the entrance is through a gate with a small\, raised entrance. Our tables can be lowered/raised\, and we have several backless benches or stools. Our kitchen is in regular use\, and while we try to cook without peanuts\, much of our cookware is shared and we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment. We have a first aid kit\, and the closest AED is in another building several yards away. Drinking water is made available in refillable pitchers. \nWhen inside the greenhouse and kitchen we will open our double-doors and windows to vent the space and encourage masking and social distancing when in more closed-in spaces. \nOur closest bathrooms are a building away\, about a one-minute walk. A gender neutral bathroom is also available\, and this is accessible by key which you can request from staff. We are not a scent-free zone\, and because herbalism classes take place here\, cannot guarantee that the site will be clear of any essential oil smells.
