SUMMARY:Goat Yoga in the Garden
DESCRIPTION:(Adults and Teens Age 14+) \nEnjoy an early morning yoga class in our garden and experience what goat yoga is all about! This joyful class will help you clear your mind\, relax\, and have fun with some playful loveable goats. Goats are calm\, even-tempered\, social animals – the perfect companions for yoga. Studies have shown that yoga\, spending time in nature\, and interacting with friendly animals can help reduce blood pressure\, stress\, and anxiety. What better way to start the weekend! \nThe class will meet in the Azalea Garden. Please dress comfortably\, bring your own yoga mat and water bottle\, and arrive a few minutes early to check-in and get settled. \nSome answers to questions you might have: \n\nWhile you are doing yoga\, the goats may snuggle beside you\, nibble on your hair\, climb on your back\, make cute sounds\, and poop near you.\nGoats make small pellets that are not terribly messy and can be shaken off your mat.  Cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer will be available.\nThe goats and yoga instructors are from Totes Goats Farm in Warwick\, NY who pride themselves on the meticulous love and care they provide to their animals who have forever homes with them.\n\nCANCELLATIONS:  If the class is cancelled due to inclement weather\, the class will be rescheduled for a future date or a refund will be given.  If you need to cancel your reservation\, you will receive a refund less a 20% administrative fee as long as your spot can be filled by another registrant. \nMember Price: $40 | Non-Member Price: $50

SUMMARY:75th Annual Herb Fair & Market
DESCRIPTION:The 75th Annual Herb Fair & Market\, presented by the New York Unit of the Herb Society of America (NYUHSA)\, celebrates three-quarters of a century of honoring the world of herbs. Guests can look forward to a vibrant artisan marketplace\, hands-on workshops\, free expert presentations\, and activities for the whole family\, all set within Caramoor’s stunning historic grounds. \nThe Rosen House at Caramoor\, a Mediterranean-style estate built between 1929 and 1939 by banker Walter Rosen and his wife Lucie Bigelow Dodge Rosen\, will be open for self-guided exploration from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. Filled with fine and decorative Asian and Renaissance art\, including complete 18th-century rooms transplanted from private villas in Italy\, France\, and England\, the House is a treasure in its own right. From 2 PM to 3 PM\, guests are invited to linger a little longer with Tea Time in the historic Music Room. Reflecting the English tradition cherished by Lucie Rosen since the early 1910s\, the service features freshly made tea sandwiches\, warm scones\, delicate desserts\, and a selection of fragrant herbal teas. Please note access to the Rosen House programs requires a ticket.

SUMMARY:Where Do We Go From Here? A Community Conversation on Climate Justice
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\nWhat does it mean to care for the land we live on? Who decides what a sustainable future looks like? What do we owe each other in the middle of a crisis? Where Do We Go From Here? brings these questions to Weeksville Heritage Center for a community conversation on climate justice\, animal rights\, and ecofeminism in Brooklyn. \nKwolanne Felix\, Haley Duren\, and Vanessa Sanchez join moderator Noella Williams to share their advocacy for environmental justice across food\, education\, and community organizing. \n\nRSVP\n\nMeet Our Speakers\nVanessa Sanchez \n\nVanessa is a Brooklyn-based community educator and plant-based chef whose work explores the intersection of food systems\, behavioral changes\, and the craft of consumption. With a background in psychology and a career rooted in public health advocacy. Her practice moves beyond recipes\, focusing instead on food as a universal language for storytelling and systemic awareness. As the founder of Alegría Vegana\, she curates events that focus on community building. Currently a lead educator within the NYC public health sector\, Vanessa is dedicated to creating grounded\, inclusive spaces where the act of the meal becomes a participatory art form. She is a bilingual facilitator committed to making food consciousness an accessible\, creative\, and transformative community experience. \nHaley Duren \n\nHaley Duren is a plant-based Executive Chef based in the East Village. After going vegan almost 8 years ago\, her love for sustainable food systems has shaped her career into one which is driven by deep passion\, genuine excitement\, and love for both the world and everyone who shares it. As the former Executive Chef of Cadence\, a beloved plant-based Southern restaurant\, Chef Haley continues to make her mark in the New York City dining scene. With her current restaurant\, Long Count\, Duren connects with local farms around New York\, New Jersey and Pennsylvania to create hyper seasonal\, plant-forward menus. Awarded Time Out Magazine’s Best Young Chef’s in NYC of 2025\, Duren shapes her philosophy behind plant-based cuisine being just as notable as traditional culinary paths. Haley’s mission is to close food insecurity gaps with community outreach and initiatives including local food drives\, bake sales & pop ups\, and starting an after school program for high schoolers to teach them about healthy eating habits. Chef Haley is one of the faces of the new generation of the hospitality industry\, one led with compassion for others and the world alike. \nKwolanne Felix \n\nKwolanne Felix is a NYC-based writer\, historian\, and gender and climate scholar.
