DESCRIPTION:Museum staff and other guest readers share stories\, rhymes and sing-alongs with children ages 2 to 5 years and their caregivers every Friday at 10:00 am. A $5 suggested donation is appreciated. \nLaunched in 2005 by librarian and former Museum Trustee Penny Metsch\, the program is open to all on a first-come\, first-served basis\, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nDue to weather or staffing shortages\, the program may be canceled without advance notice. In addition to wall-hung works\, the exhibition features functional quilted pieces\, including wearables\, pillows\, and clothing. \nMcKibbin’s quilts capture the beauty of nature through organic forms\, earthy textures\, and seasonal hues. From abstract patterns to botanical inspirations\, Nature’s Tapestry reimagines traditional quilting as a celebration of the garden. Many of the works are created using repurposed and reclaimed materials\, showcasing the sustainable potential of quilting as an art form. \nAbout the ArtistCarolyn McKibbin is an improv quilter and Summit resident. A former member of the Summit Garden Club and a seasonal gardener at Reeves-Reed Arboretum\, her own garden was featured on the Spring 2024 Summit Garden Tour. Organic shapes and bold colors are signature elements in both her quilts and her gardens.
