DESCRIPTION:The Delicate Balance of Aquatic Ecology\n\n\nJoin us for an exploration of one of the most expansive aquatic ecosystems in the Preserve in this summertime follow-up to our spring program! \nThe Pocantico River is a sensitive habitat that supports an abundance of wildlife but due to its large footprint\, this ecosystem is subject to a broad range of threats. \nGet your hands dirty with naturalist\, Josh DiPaola\, and educator\, Kim Fendrich\, in this interactive program and see firsthand how our stewardship team evaluates this habitat by taking water samples\, searching for aquatic insects\, and considering the health of nearby trees as we explain how they are all connected. \nMeet in the Visitor’s Center courtyard followed by a 2-mile round trip hike to the Pocantico River and back.  \nPlease wear sun protection and bring water to drink. \nIn the event of rain\, the program may be canceled or postponed; you will be notified via email by 5 pm the day before. \nMax: 20 people \nAppropriate for all ages \nParking: $6 per vehicle

Participants will take home their Nature Journal full of exciting botanical drawings\, as well as their own floral paintings!  \n  \nThese nature and art inspired workshops can be attended as a series or as stand alone programs. \n  \nThis is a drop-off program.
