The many creeks\, sweeping through grassy hills and phragmites\, offer an ecological system of tidal waters\, where wading birds and other wildlife forage for food in the mud flats at low tide. This is a great daytime paddle and home to some beautiful sunsets. Witness this unexpected gem right under our noses. \nLed by an ACA (American Canoe Association) certified kayak instructor from Kayak East\, this tour is rated “Easy” meaning no experience is necessary. This tour is great for paddlers of any skill level. Photographers\, bird watchers and anyone who wants to get outside and enjoy nature will also love it! Registration is required. \nPlan to meet at the Laurel Hill Park boat launch in Secaucus at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour for boat fit. Volunteer indoors or outdoors alongside our horticulturists to support the care and upkeep of our landscape. Tasks vary by session and may include weeding\, mulching\, watering\, and more. \nGround Force Sessions: \n\n\nThrough October: Thursdays & Saturdays\, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM \n\n\nStarting in November: Thursdays & Saturdays\, 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM \n\n\nWhat to Bring & Wear: \n\n\nLong pants\, long socks\, and sturdy closed-toe shoes \n\n\nInsect repellent\, sunscreen\, and a refillable water bottle \n\n\nRain gear if light rain is expected—we work in drizzle! \n\n\nRegistration is required to receive updates in case of cancellations or schedule changes. Please register at least 24 hours before each session. \nWe will supply gloves as well as all other tools and materials. For your safety\, all tools and gloves are washed and sanitized. Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. No groups. Tours last approximately 30-45 minutes. \nSaturday Garden Tours may be suspended on days with excessive heat.
