DESCRIPTION:The Emelin Theatre is proud to present Nutcracker Dream: Inspired by the work of Rudolf Nureyev and Marius Petipa\, this 90-minute family-friendly adaptation by French-American choreographer Carole Alexis is an exquisite interpretation of the beloved holiday classic. Professional dancers of Ballet des Amériques will perform the featured roles of the ballet\, with additional roles performed by young dancers from our area selected by auditions. \nSCHEDULE & SPECIAL OFFERS\n10 performances\, with all seats reserved with most priced at $35 for Adults and $25 for Children\, with a limited number of premium seats at $50\, plus applicable fees. Opening Night is Saturday\, December 16 at 7pm\, and a limited number of VIP | Waltz of the Flowers packages are being offered at $100\, plus applicable fees\, which include premier seating\, an exclusive post-show themed reception with an opportunity for photos with dancers and goodie bags with a Nutcracker Dream T-shirt\, an ornament and other special gifts. On Sunday\, December 17 at 2pm\, there will be a special children’s performance called Land of Sweets | Sugar Plum Fairy And Cavalier Reception for all\, including special treats and an opportunity to meet the dancers after the performance. Sophie’s “All in the Family” collection offers an exquisite field guide to the mysterious and spectacular creatures of Jewish mythology. Discover Theli\, a cosmic dragon thought to hold great power over the universe; Rahav\, a fantastical sea creature that symbolizes divine conquest over evil; and the Keres\, a multicorn thought to have great medicinal value—plus\, delicate yet fierce depictions of old friends such as the Leviathan\, the Behemoth\, and the golem. \nDetails for Sophie’s artist reception coming soon. Updates on Tiny Gallery shows here. \nAbout Sophie: \nSophie Bugat attends the Rhode Island School of Design. She works in a variety of media – oil\, watercolor\, ink\, pencil\, and clay (air-dry\, ceramic\, metal clay) are recent favorites – and loves to experiment with new materials. \nSophie has admired miniatures ever since she was a child\, creating objects like cabinets\, stove tops\, a functioning lamp\, and a tiny replica of her dad’s favorite rocking chair\, all of which became part of her nine-year-old repertoire. She sold her first piece of art to a local Montclair business in 9th grade. \nLast year\, she created a spinning “carousel” about famous fairy tales (including those by the Brothers Grimm and those animated by Disney)\, and the anti-semitic tropes they contain. She made this piece for educational purposes\, as a way to encourage discussion about how this particular form of bigotry has manifested itself for centuries. In All in the Family\, Sophie repudiates traditional fairy tale antisemitism with depictions of mythical beings that appear in Jewish texts and folklore. The miniature pieces displayed in the Tiny Gallery celebrate the types of stories she wished she had read as a child. With them\, Sophie hopes to educate the public and introduce them to the diverse and whimsical world of fantastical Jewish creatures.

His poems\, drawings\, and photographs have appeared in several journals and anthologies\, including The Stillwater Review\, This Broken Shore\, Sensations Magazine\, Meta-Land\, On the Verge\, Voices from Here\, Grasmere\, and Blue Sky White Clouds. His column\, “On Writing\,” was published in Inquiry: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines for twenty years. His active interest in the arts spans nine decades.\n**Kathleen Galvin Grimaldi is the author of two poetry collections: Like Smoke Rising\, Like Wind; and Life’s Glorious Song. She has also authored one poetry calendar\, What the Heart Knows; and one collection of immigrant stories\, Out of the Shadows They Come. Her poems have appeared in local publications both in PA and CT. Ms. Galvin’s work has also appeared in past issues of The Stillwater Review here in New Jersey. Most recently\, she has been the moderator for poetry classes offered at the TOALC Center in East Stroudsburg\, PA.

SUMMARY:Beginner’s Yoga Club @ Main Library
DESCRIPTION:The Beginner’s Yoga Club meets most Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. This is gentle yoga for adults\, led by volunteers. \nNo experience is necessary and no registration required. Participation is on a first-come\, first-admitted basis\, until the room is full. \nWear loose clothing and come prepared to relax and make new friends. \nPlease note class does get displaced by other library programs. If it’s not on the calendar for a particular Wednesday or Saturday\, there is no class that day.

DESCRIPTION:Kevin Kuo from White Deer Meditation will be here the 3rd Saturday of most months to lead a class in the traditional Chinese healing practice of QiGong\, which supports mental\, physical\, and spiritual health through gentle movement\, meditation\, and breathing techniques. \nThis class is for beginners. At each meeting Kevin will reinforce the lessons of previous months\, making sure all participants: \n\n    Understand & Learn Basic Meditation Techniques\n    Understand & Learn Basic QiGong Techniques\n    Learn Basic QiGong (8 – Section Brocade) Movements\n\nPlease wear comfortable clothing and bring water.
