DESCRIPTION:Mah Jongg is complex\, compelling and fun! Do you know how to play? Would you like to learn? \nPlayers of all levels are invited to the Community Room at Main Library to learn\, play or even teach this complicated game. The most experienced players in the room facilitate the game and new faces are always welcome. If you’re an expert\, come share what you know and help improve everyone’s level of play. \nThis event happens most Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00. No registration required\, just a love of playing Mah Jongg or the desire to learn something new. Current limit is 24 players\, seating on a first-come\, first-seated basis. DESCRIPTION:Local poets Morton Rich* and Kathleen Grimaldi** will present short readings. Afterward we invite you to share your own work.\nRegister for reminders and updates in case something changes. Walk-ins also welcome as space allows.\n\n*Morton D. Rich\, Professor Emeritus Montclair State University\, grew up in Newark\, New Jersey\, and returns to his roots through poetry. His publications include The Dynamics of Tonal Shift in the Sonnet\, wherein he explores the impact of syntax on readers’ apprehension of meaning\, and a chapbook\, A Boy in Newark. His poems\, drawings\, and photographs have appeared in several journals and anthologies\, including The Stillwater Review\, This Broken Shore\, Sensations Magazine\, Meta-Land\, On the Verge\, Voices from Here\, Grasmere\, and Blue Sky White Clouds. His column\, “On Writing\,” was published in Inquiry: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines for twenty years. His active interest in the arts spans nine decades.\n**Kathleen Galvin Grimaldi is the author of two poetry collections: Like Smoke Rising\, Like Wind; and Life’s Glorious Song. She has also authored one poetry calendar\, What the Heart Knows; and one collection of immigrant stories\, Out of the Shadows They Come. Her poems have appeared in local publications both in PA and CT. Ms. Galvin’s work has also appeared in past issues of The Stillwater Review here in New Jersey. Most recently\, she has been the moderator for poetry classes offered at the TOALC Center in East Stroudsburg\, PA.
