SUMMARY:Urban Garden 101 Harvest Spring Crops
DESCRIPTION:Participants will learn how to harvest Spring crops.They will be able to make a communal salad and take crops home.\n\n\nIn step with the growing season\, beginner gardeners are invited to gain hands-on learning experiences at the learning garden and greenhouse. In Spring unfurling\, we’ll cover fundamental principles and practices of growing plants for specific urban green spaces\, preparing soil\, designing a garden suitable for each gardener’s specific needs\, regenerative and climate-wise gardening\, starting seeds\, proper planting techniques\, and basic plant care. Gardeners in this course will contribute to collective beds in our learning garden as well as tend seedlings to take to their own urban green spaces. \nIn this class participants will harvest lettuce\, spinach\,mint\,and root vegetbales. \nRequired Texts and Resources: No texts are required. Optional supplemental readings will be given for each class. \nRegistration: Each track is limited to 16 participants per session. We ask that you kindly register prior the start of the cohort. Urban Gardening 101 is most suited for adults\, and we kindly ask participants with children to consider one of our other weekly free family-friendly programs instead.

DESCRIPTION:Daydreaming in the clouds? This fun pastime actually helps power real citizen science!\n\n\nLook up and explore the sky! Participants will learn how to observe\, identify\, and count clouds\, while discovering what they can tell us about the weather. Using the GLOBE Observer app\, we will collect real time data and contribute to real NASA science! \nPlease dress accordingly for the weather\, and be prepared to walk for the duration of the program. Bring a jacket\, closed toe hiking shoes\, and a water bottle. We recommend pre-downloading the free GLOBE Observer app to your phone prior to attending the event. \nNo admission fees for this program. $8 vehicle fee in effect. Each person in your party needs a ticket. Reservations are required for all programs. Space is limited. If you are unable to keep your reservation\, please cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Intrepid Museum to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride at our Inclusive Pride Family Day!\n\n\nSunday\, May 31 | 1:00pm-4:00pm ET\n \nCelebrate Pride at the Intrepid Museum with a day of hands-on art\, storytelling and community. Families of all ages and identities are invited to explore the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to space science as part of this Pride Month Kick-off event. \nActivities are designed for learners of all ages and abilities. All registrants will receive a social narrative in advance to help them prepare for the event. \nCurrent and former service members and their families can enjoy a special Military Family Lounge featuring light snacks and beverages. \nTeens are encouraged to visit the Teen Corner to create art\, connect and make friends. \n \nEntry to the Museum is FREE with event pre-registration. Families can check in to the event until 3:00pm. \nAll visitors must enter through the Museum’s Welcome Center. \n\n\nFAQs\nDo current or former service members and their families receive special access to this event? \nCurrent and former service members and their families can enjoy a special Military Family Lounge featuring light snacks and beverages. \nWhat accessibility accommodations does this program have? \nFamily Day is designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all families\, including those with disabilities.
