DESCRIPTION:Fly Tying Workshop Series\n\n\nCatch a fish with a fly you’ve tied yourself! Prepare for the warmer months and stay involved in the sport\, even when the weather forces us indoors. \nImmerse yourself in the practice and history of fly tying under the guidance of instructor\, Len Savanella\, and become a better angler. By the end of this 4-part series\, you’ll be able to turn out streamers\, wet flies\, nymphs and dry flies. \nBasic tools and materials will be provided. \nP LEASE NOTE: Registration is for all 4 classes in the series. DESCRIPTION:Museum staff and other guest readers share stories\, rhymes and sing-alongs with children ages 2 to 5 years and their caregivers every Friday at 10:00 am. A $5 suggested donation is appreciated. \nLaunched in 2005 by librarian and former Museum Trustee Penny Metsch\, the program is open to all on a first-come\, first-served basis\, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nDue to weather or staffing shortages\, the program may be canceled without advance notice. To confirm on the day of the event\, please call 201/656-2240\, or contact us at info@hobokenmuseum.org. \nTips and Guidelines for making Storytime successful: \n\nIf your child is crying or having a difficult time\, please take him or her outside so as not to disturb the others and try to come back another time.\nIf your child is not being gentle with another child\, please separate the children and make sure it doesn’t happen again.\nCell phones are fine for taking pictures of your child\, but not for talking on or texting.\nAll the adults are role models for the children. If they see you sitting and listening to the story\, they will too. DESCRIPTION:(age 14+\, age 12-13 with adult) \nJoin Our Horticulture Team! \nHelp maintain and enhance the beauty of our gardens and grounds all year long—spring\, summer\, fall\, and even winter! Volunteer indoors or outdoors alongside our horticulturists to support the care and upkeep of our landscape. Tasks vary by session and may include weeding\, mulching\, watering\, and more. \nGround Force Sessions: \n\n\nThrough October: Thursdays & Saturdays\, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM \n\n\nStarting in November: Thursdays & Saturdays\, 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM \n\n\nWhat to Bring & Wear: \n\n\nLong pants\, long socks\, and sturdy closed-toe shoes \n\n\nInsect repellent\, sunscreen\, and a refillable water bottle \n\n\nRain gear if light rain is expected—we work in drizzle! \n\n\nRegistration is required to receive updates in case of cancellations or schedule changes. Please register at least 24 hours before each session. \nWe will supply gloves as well as all other tools and materials. For your safety\, all tools and gloves are washed and sanitized. Please meet at the barn in our parking lot. If the session is cancelled due to inclement weather or any other reason\, we will contact you. Along the way\, you will learn about the history of the fort and some unusual stories that have taken place over the centuries. This unique opportunity will allow visitors to see Fort Tompkins in a whole new light! Spots are limited and reservations on Eventbrite are required. We will meet at the Visitor Center and then walk to Fort Tompkins. Contact 718-354-4500 for questions. \n\n\nA waitlist has been added for those who weren’t able to secure tickets to the tour.
