There are effective beauty products right under your nose at home. From your medicine cabinet to your kitchen, you can tend to many common aesthetic dilemmas.

Skin

During wintertime, skin gets dry and flaky. If you don’t own an exfoliating scrub, mix together a half cup of brown sugar, a tablespoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of honey. Take a shower and rub the mixture all over your body to slough off the dead layer of your epidermis. For your face, use white sugar instead of brown as it’s gentler.

Eyes

If your peepers are looking a bit puffy, cut two slices of refrigerated cucumber and place them on your lids for a few minutes to reduce any swelling. You’ll feel and look refreshed in no time.

Complexion

The secret to banishing blemishes is drinking lots of water. Squeeze in some lemon juice to make natural lemonade and feed your skin with some vitamin C, which aids in collagen production. Banish a pimple in a jiffy by rubbing it with half a strawberry. The fruit is rich in salicylic acid, an ingredient found in many acne products. Or, grab a baby aspirin, crush it up and mix it with a bit of saline solution to make a paste. Dab the concoction on the affected site before going to bed. By morning, it should be dried out.

Must-have Household Items

  • Baby Oil: Excellent for removing stubborn eye makeup, this product can also be used as a moisturizer after showering.
  • Witch Hazel: For a refreshing toner that removes excess dirt and oil, mix together ¼ cup witch hazel, ¼ cup green tea and ¼ grapefruit juice.
  • Vitamin E: This vitamin works wonders for cuts and scrapes. Break open a capsule and rub its contents around your eyes for a healing eye cream before bed. It is also a nourishing hand treatment.
  • Vaseline: Petroleum jelly is an efficient way to nourish dry and cracked hands, cuticles or feet. Also use it to tame unruly eyebrows and add shine to lips.

Beauty regiments don’t have to cost a fortune. There are many beauty secrets lurking around your home— you just have to look.
