There’s no event more wondrous than Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s annual Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire of Jousting Knights and Royal Delights at Mount Hope Estate and Winery! Excitement, drama and intrigue envelop the Shire as pirates, peasants and princes celebrate the music, arts, literature and grand traditions of 16th Century, Renaissance England. This year marks Her Majesty’s 28th visit to the Shire filled with hundreds of colorfully costumed characters, scores of Renaissance merchants, period foods from 23 Royal Kitchens, ales from a microbrewery, music, dance and over 90 stage shows dotting the lanes of the 35-acre, tree-lined village. The fantasy of the Faire unfolds for 12 weekends, Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day Monday, August 9 through October 26. The villagers welcome Her Majesty at 11am and bid one and all a fond “fare thee well” at 8pm. The Faire is situated on the grounds of Mount Hope Estate and Winery, on route 72, half a mile south of PA Turnpike Exit 266, 15 miles north of Lancaster and 14 miles east of Hershey. Parking is free. Complete show details, advance click-to-print tickets and helpful tips for enjoying a fun-filled Faire day can be found at www.parenfaire.com.
