The JCC in Manhattan offers a variety of programming for children with special needs. Kulam is a Sunday program for children with special needs and their families. Designed for children ages 3-16 on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum and with varied communication and learning differences, classes include music, sports skills and Jewish culture with Matan. Funding for the Kulam program is provided by grants from UJA-Federation of New York and the Gruss Lipper Family Foundation. Transitions is a social program for 16-21 year olds that fosters independence and emphasizes learning life skills. Funding for Transitions provided by Council Member David I. In Adaptations: The Young Adult Life Skills Network, assistance is given to college-educated adults in their 20s and 30s with learning disabilities or those needing support. Opportunities include social activities and exploring career options.
