The Learning Center
for Exceptional Children, Inc.
37 Spear Avenue
Clifton, NJ 07013

The Learning Center for Exceptional Children was founded in 1978 to provide quality educational programs to all students based on the philosophy that all students are exceptional and are entitled to a special education. They provide individualized programming, including social services, for all students from pre-school through twenty one years of age. While education is a major part of the services they provide to students ranging from the Gifted Child to the Child with Special Needs, The Learning Center for Exceptional Children also provides services that promote good interpersonal relationships, as they intend to keep their promise of a "Brighter Tomorrow for Today's Child." The program is staffed by fully certified personnel. Classes are taught in a low student/teacher ratio, surpassing state requirements. Among the therapies they provide are: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy. Life Skills, Social Skills and Transitional Skills are all important aspects of each child's development and as such are an important part of the program. Counseling and Behavioral Planning are also offered. All of these are integrated into the daily program. The Learning Center for Exceptional Children takes great pride in developing "the whole child." Some schools may specialize in a given approach. At the Learning Center they believe in assessing the child and developing the best approach that will enable them become the most independent, well-rounded child they can be.
