Located on a beautiful 10-acre campus adjacent to Adelphi University, The Waldorf School of Garden City is a college preparatory, coeducational independent day school for nursery through grade 12. An afternoon playgroup is available for preschool children as well as a Parent-Toddler program for ages 2 to 3. A before and after school care program is also offered. Founded in 1947, the Waldorf School strives to balance academic, practical, creative and physical endeavors in an interdisciplinary manner based on the educational philosophy of Dr. Rudolf Steiner. Teachers foster genuine enthusiasm for learning, respect for the world and a healthy sense of self. Extracurricular programs for older students include three seasons of sports, community service, music and drama. Beginning in third grade, each class takes an annual class trip to the school’s extension campus at Camp Glen Brook in southern New Hampshire.
