Xiao Bao Chinese is a Mandarin Chinese language and cultural learning program for children ages 5 and under— as well as their parents/caregivers, too. The activity-based program introduces the Chinese language and culture through developmentally appropriate music, movement, storytelling and play. Through early exposure to Chinese, Xiao Bao provides children with practical language skills as well as a foundation for a life-long interest in the Chinese language and culture. Above all, the program’s goal is to let children have fun learning a new language together. Classes are offered in the winter/spring, fall and summer, and meet once or twice weekly in 45-minute classes where children are introduced to the Chinese language and culture through vocabulary-building songs, stories, movement, conversation and games. Classes discuss age-appropriate topics related to daily life such as colors, numbers, body parts, food, family members and animals so that the children can immediately start using their newly acquired vocabulary.
