“Teaching with Love” has been Rainbow Christian Preschool & Kindergarten’s motto since 1987. The school, welcoming children ages 2 to 7 of all religious and racial backgrounds, is located in northwestern Queens. Rainbow Christian, a ministry of St. Jacobus Evangelical Lutheran Church, is fully licensed and has a multilingual and multicultural staff of 20. Available are several programs: Nursery and Preschool is for children ages 2 and 3, available part-time and full-time, and is an easy transition from home to school. Universal PreK is a 2.5 hour free program offered under contract with the NYC Dept. of Education for children turning 4 during the year of registration. The After-School Program (gr. K to 2) includes recreation, specific themes, homework help, enrichment exercises, and more. Thinking skills are developed through such activities as sensory table, blocks, dramatic play, computers, writing, puzzles, debate, and storytelling. The spacious facility includes air-conditioned classrooms, a full gym and a state-of-the-art, fenced-in private playground. Rainbow Christian is open year-round from 7:30am to 6:30pm.
