On a lush landscape surrounded by private grounds for supervised outdoor play, a sandbox and safe playground equipment, Play Care encompasses eight open classrooms, a separate crib area for infants, a kitchen for cooking classes and, at the center of the comprehensive school, a large playroom for music development and creative movement. In attentive classrooms with an abundance of dedicated and experienced teachers, children ages 8 weeks to 5 years garner a positive self image and individual abilities while developing cooperation, socialization and participation skills. The balanced curriculum involves an engaging mix of stimulating activities, academics and free play. Weekly science projects, computers, celebration of diverse cultures and their holidays, circle time for sharing stories and listening games, and arts and crafts activities that promote fine motor coordination round out the curriculum. Children especially love special dress-up day events like Pajama Day and Hat Day as well as instructive visits from the fire department, Maritime Society and more. Sessions are held Monday through Friday mornings from 9:15am to noon. Extended and/or afternoon sessions are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Enrichment classes are also available at Play Care. On Monday, Animal Mania caters to 4-year-olds; on Wednesday, Art and Baking caters to 2-year-olds; and Friday, Crazy 4 Art caters to 4-year-olds. Children may enroll in any combination of classes and a lunchtime program is available for those wishing to extend their time at Play Care.
