A family created by adoption is unique and special and sometimes, like all families, needs some help. The Pederson-Krag Center has a special program to assist these special families, the Post-Adoption Support Program. An array of flexible, supportive, educational services are offered to help parents and children with the ongoing adjustment to family life, no matter how long the adoption has been in place. All services are offered free of charge to adoptive families residing in Suffolk County. Individualized Parent Education, Counseling, Parent Advocacy, and Academic and Recreational Respite services can be provided in your home. There are also Support Groups for parents, teens and children, Educational Workshops, Drop-off Respite and Social Activities that take place at the agency. In addition, there are outings for families to enjoy together in the community to places like the Atlantis Aquarium, Boomer’s amusement center, Woodside Nursery and the annual Adoption Day Celebration at Sports Plus. The teen program has recently been expanded with trips to restaurants, movies and bowling.
