Educational relationships, experiences, play activities and projects contribute to young children’s development at Love A Lot Preschool, a comprehensive infant care and early childhood facility for children ages 2 months to 5 years. Located in the surging Lower East Side, Love A Lot was founded in 2005 in a vibrant space on the ground floor of a new residential building. There’s a private outdoor area perfect for safe, recreational play, while the incredible learning opportunities at Love A Lot take place inside. Based on a multi-intelligence approach, the curriculum centers on relationships, daily routines, exploration and play through varied experiences and teaching methods. The curriculum thus empowers the whole child, as well as supports all types of learning styles- musical, tactile, verbal, social, visual and auditory. Children also contribute to the teaching process. By asking questions and expressing personal interests, each child creates a customized “project approach.” Children then investigate the world around them, employing self-discovery and inquiry to answer their questions. This approach encourages problem solving, communication skills, confidence and independence. Love A Lot offers additional experiences in music, movement, sign language, yoga, tennis and gardening. Special workshops include music/piano, yoga, French, manner’s class and sign language. Starting September of 2008, Love a Lot Preschool will offer a new class for pre-k, as well as an accelerated/Saturday Program for the “gifted” in math and languages and arts.
