Founded in 1949 and located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, The Cathedral School provides a warm, nurturing and family atmosphere to 125 day students in nursery school through 8th grade. With a 10-to-1 student-teacher ratio, an international student body and placement in the City’s best high schools, The Cathedral School continues its legacy of educating children in the tradition of the classics by emphasizing in its curriculum ancient Greek to grades 7 and 8, mythology to grades kindergarten through 4, and drama to grades 4 through 8. In addition to the standard core classes of math, English, history, social studies and science, The Cathedral School offers French, computer science, physical education, art and music. Yoga is offered to the early childhood program. Extracurricular activities include sports, music, foreign language and drama. Most recently, chess has been added to the curriculum for grades k-4.
