The Ardsley Community Nursery School has been serving families from the local area for 50 years with a fun-loving environment run by a caring staff and a strong enrichment program consisting of music, dance and movement, nature and Spanish. Ardsley is especially proud of its new status as a day care center and summer camp. Children learn through carefully planned play experiences that include songs; arts and crafts; language, phonemic awareness and literacy; science and exploration; computers; multicultural humanities; and independence and social skills. The school curriculum centers around weekly themes that reflect the interest of the students, such as Dinosaurs, Outer Space, The Wild West, Circus, Animals, the Ocean, and Farms. Fun days include the Halloween and spring carnivals, Valentine’s Day brunch for parents, Thanksgiving feast and holiday puppet show. All cultures are celebrated. The school has a beautiful, shady playground with sandboxes, swings, climbing equipment, playhouses and mobile toys. Children experience science and nature daily through taking care of plants and classroom pets, and hatching butterflies and chicks every spring.
