Aaron School serves students of average to above average intelligence for whom a mainstream setting presents challenges. The School provides an enriched educational environment for students k-5 who benefit from small, structured classes with a multi-sensory approach to learning. Their challenges can be in speech and language, auditory processing, learning disabilities, and many students also present attention and focusing issues. The School’s mission is to help students integrate into the School’s social community and become confident, successful learners by integrating academic and therapeutic services with enrichment. The School blends a traditional elementary school curriculum into an individualized skill building program that enhances each student’s strength while addressing educational and emotional needs. The School focuses on the development of the whole student, encouraging cognitive, emotional, social and artistic growth. Students are grouped by developmental level in small classes; each student receives individual attention and group experiences. The holistic approach to learning and development maximizes each student’s progress and sense of mastery and well-being. The School’s educational team— the head teacher, assistant teacher, school psychologist, therapists and specialists— meets frequently to disuss each child’s progress and review classroom dynamics. Through modeling, role playing, problem solving and discussion, children learn the appropriate ways to interact with the people around them.
