Solomon Schechter is a co-educational, PreK-12 Jewish Day School affiliated with the Conservative movement. Committed to academic excellence and offering a balanced, well-grounded curriculum of both general and Judaic studies, Schechter educates students to be intellectually curious, analytic, independent thinkers. The Cranford and West Orange Lower School campuses (grades PreK-5), offer language arts, math, social studies and science, as well as art, music, computers and physical education. The Judaic program focuses on Hebrew language, prayer and the laws and customs of Shabbat and the holidays. The curriculum develops knowledge and understanding of the State of Israel and its people. The Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12), which are housed together in West Orange, offer a challenging dual curriculum and directed teaching, which help students make the transition from the concrete thinking of children to the abstract thinking of adults. The exceptional educational experience in both the Lower Schools and the Upper School is enhanced by a wide variety of community service programs, clubs, sports and after school activities.
