Since 1976, Center Stage has served the New Jersey theatre community with an ecclectiv approach for well-rounded training. It’s all there under one roof: the best teachers of classical ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop, plus a teaching group of dynamic theatre professionals. Center Stage training prepares dancers to hold their own in the New York theatre community and national dance companies. But they recognize and respect that many students are dancing just for fun. Either way, Center Stage’s training instills students with discipline, confidence and pride of accomplishment that carry over into lifelong education, career and personal endeavors. Center Stage has developed their DANCEcamp program for children at every level of dance education--from those with little or no training, to those who’ve had years of classes. All day long, the students are divided into sections according to their age and ability level, so that they may direct instruction appropriately. Classes include ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, music, singing, body conditioning and choreography. Since all three disciplines of dance will be included, students will need Jazz shoes, ballet slippers and tap shoes. The only other requirements are Capezio pink tights and a black leotard for ballet class. All other supplies will be provided. It’s a great way for a dancer to spend a couple weeks in the summer, having fun while developing the skills needed to be a professional.
