When talented, professional dancers and choreographers teach the performing arts, as at the Logrea Dance Academy, the possibilities for young students are limitless. “While not all students may have professional aspirations, they will develop poise, confidence, discipline and a lifelong appreciation of the art of dance, music and live theater,” according Academy co-directors Jean Logrea and Beth Fritz-Logrea who recognize that dance training at Logrea promotes additional mind and body benefits. “The focus and discipline developed during classes and rehearsals are qualities that extend to other areas of life- improved study habits and agility in games and sports.” Logrea Dance Academy provides serious ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance training. Structured to enhance strength, flexibility and artistic expression, the ballet program gives students many exciting performance opportunities, such as ballet concerts and studio workshops. Also, as the experienced co-directors dually serve as the artistic directors for the Westchester Ballet Company, Logrea student dancers may audition for this venerable, nonprofit organization to join the company as well as for roles in the December performances of The Nutcracker. Every spring, members of the Academy’s jazz, tap and modern classes may perform in the highly-anticipated Cabaret Revue. Other special events at the Academy include: open class weeks that parents and friends are invited to observe, master classes taught by noted professionals and school-wide performances.
